چکیده

Figure 1. CT angiography workflow. CT angiography (CTA) allows arteries and veins in the brain and neck region to be made visible in a way that is significantly less invasive than conventional angiography. To fully comprehend the complex geometry of the vessels, a set of CTA images is often visualized using maximum intensity projection (MIP) or volume rendering (VR). In a MIP or VR image, however, the vessels are often obscured by bone, for instance in the skull base, or within the vertebrae.

Automatic Level Set Based Cerebral Vessel Segmentation and Bone Removal in CT Angiography Data Sets

Computed tomography angiography (CTA) data sets without hardware based bone subtraction have the disadvantage of containing the bone structures which particularly overlap with vessel intensities; therefore vessel segmentation is hampered. Segmentation methods developed for CTA without bones can not handle these data sets and manual cerebral vessel segmentation is not realizable in clinical rout...

Bone-subtraction CT angiography for the evaluation of intracranial aneurysms.

PURPOSE CT angiography (CTA) has been established for detection and therapy planning of intracranial aneurysms. The analysis of aneurysms at the level of the skull base, however, remains difficult because bone prevents a free view. We report initial clinical results of an approach for automatic bone elimination from CTA data. MATERIAL AND METHODS Before the bone-removal process 2 datasets are...

Multisection CT venography of the dural sinuses and cerebral veins by using matched mask bone elimination.

Matched mask bone elimination (MMBE) is a technique for the automatic removal of bone pixels from CT angiography data sets. We describe the use of this technique in two patients with the clinical suspicion of dural sinus thrombosis. We conclude that multisection CT venography with MMBE is a useful adjunct for the visualization of the intracranial venous circulation by removing bone from the ima...

Partially Rigid Bone Registration in CT Angiography

Maximum intensity projection (MIP) studies of CT angiography (CTA) images are a widely used tool for artery and vein visualization especially in the brain. Due to their high CT intensity bone structures lead to visualization artifacts in MIP studies, therefore they have to be removed to get an undistorted view of the vessel structures. Often this removal is possible by a rigid registration step...

[Dual energy CT angiography of the carotid arteries: quality, bone subtraction, and radiation dosage using tube voltage 80/140 kV versus 100/140 kV].

OBJECTIVE To study the differences in vascular image quality, bone subtraction, and dose of radiation of dual energy CT angiography of the supraaortic trunks using different tube voltages. MATERIAL AND METHODS We reviewed the CT angiograms of the supraaortic trunks in 46 patients acquired with a 128-slice dual source CT scanner using two voltage protocols (80/140 kV and 100/140 kV). The "head...
